EN Tungsten steel milling cutters and coated milling cutters are different. The two have the following differences:
Material aspect
Tungsten steel milling cutter:
1. Tungsten steel milling cutters are mainly composed of tungsten carbide, cobalt and other hard materials, and are also called carbide milling cutters. It has high hardness, high strength and good wear resistance, and can maintain stable performance under high-speed cutting and heavy-load cutting conditions.
2. The hardness is generally between HRA89-93, and it can cut materials of various hardnesses, including higher hardness alloy steel, stainless steel, etc.
Coated milling cutter:
1. The base material of coated milling cutters can be high-speed steel or carbide. Coating is a layer of special materials applied to the surface of the tool base, such as TiN (titanium nitride), TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride), TiCN (titanium carbonitride), etc.
2. The function of the coating is to improve the hardness, wear resistance, oxidation resistance and reduce the friction coefficient of the tool. For example, the hardness of TiAlN coating can reach HV2000-3000, significantly improving the cutting performance and life of the tool.

Performance characteristics
Tungsten steel milling cutter:
1. High hardness and wear resistance enable tungsten steel milling cutters to perform continuous cutting for a long time and are suitable for processing materials with higher hardness.
2. Due to the high thermal conductivity of tungsten steel, it can dissipate heat better during the cutting process, reduce the thermal deformation of the tool, and improve the machining accuracy.
3. However, the toughness of tungsten steel milling cutters is relatively low and its ability to withstand impact loads during the cutting process is limited.
Coated milling cutter:
1. Coating can reduce the friction coefficient between the tool and the workpiece, reduce the generation of cutting force and cutting heat, and improve processing efficiency and surface quality.
2. Different coatings have different performance characteristics. For example, TiN coating has good wear resistance and decorative properties; TiAlN coating is suitable for high-speed cutting and high-temperature cutting; TiCN coating has high hardness and toughness.
3. The base material of the coated milling cutter can be selected according to different processing needs. The coated milling cutter with a high-speed steel base has good toughness and is suitable for some processing occasions that require high tool toughness; the coating of the carbide base Milling cutters have higher hardness and wear resistance.
Application fields
Tungsten steel milling cutter:
1. It is widely used in mold manufacturing, aerospace, automobile manufacturing and other fields, especially when processing materials with higher hardness and high-precision parts.
2. For example, in mold processing, tungsten steel milling cutters can be used to process complex shapes such as mold cavities and cores to ensure processing accuracy and surface quality.
Coated milling cutter:
1. Suitable for cutting of various materials, including steel, cast iron, aluminum alloy, copper alloy, etc.
2. It has a wide range of applications in the fields of high-speed cutting, dry cutting and precision machining. For example, when cutting aluminum alloys at high speed, coated milling cutters can improve processing efficiency and surface quality and reduce tool wear.
